Family 72 hour kits come in many shapes, sizes and options. There are 2 options.

Option 1: Making Your Own Kit

You can get all the supplies and make them yourself. When you make your own, you can better tailor it to fit your family’s needs.


Start with a container based on your family needs and requirements. They should be easily accessible and portable.

 Option 2: Purchase a Complete Kit

Buying your kit already made may be a good option and may be quicker, but can be lacking in things that you find important.

Make sure that you disassemble it to see what is inside.  You may need to add a few things.


1. Meet with your family.  Review the information.

2.Watch the video presentations.

3. Complete Make a Kit – Emergency Kit Supplies and Food  to determine what supplies your family will need in an emergency.

4. Fill out the Calendar Form to set goals for completion of emergency kit.

5. Purchase supplies individually, make your kit or purchase kits online.
